Paepcke Transit Hub

Paepcke Transit Hub Improvements

Paepcke Park is the second busiest transit hub in the city, with three popular bus stops, WE-Cycle stations, Car-to-Go, and its central location in town. Following resident input, the Bike and Ped Master Plan, and Council direction, the City of Aspen is exploring potential areas for improvement at the Paepcke Park transit hub along Main Street and Garmisch Street.

We are looking for your input on how the City can improve this vital area of town.

Below is a list of critical issues and potential consequences that we hope will help you understand the current conditions and spark ideas on how we can improve.

  • Ill-defined user corridors and paths impact safety and functionality
  • Inconsistent stop for inbound BRT buses on Garmisch impacts safety for bus riders and pedestrians
  • Impaired site-lines at the crossing on Main Street make it difficult for motorists to see pedestrians
  • Lack of waiting space/seating for bus riders as they wait for their buses on Main Street
  • Lack of bus route information at stops
  • Disjointed connectivity with other destinations in town
  • Pooling of rain water at down-valley stop
  • Aging stormwater infrastructure
  • Inconsistent stop for inbound BRT buses on Garmisch impacts safety for bus riders and pedestrians
