Smuggler Bridge Utility Investigation Work
The City of Aspen will be conducting exploratory utility work near the Smuggler Bridge beginning July 20 through July 24, 2026. This work is part of the planning and design process for the future Smuggler Bridge replacement project.
Work Details
Dates: July 20–24, 2026
Hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to avoid peak traffic times
Work Activity: Crews will perform exploratory excavations to identify the location and condition of existing underground utilities. This information is needed to complete the design of the future bridge replacement.
Traffic Impacts
One lane of traffic will remain open with alternating traffic control during work hours.
Access to side streets and nearby properties will be maintained, though motorists should expect brief delays.
Please use caution, follow all traffic control devices, and allow extra travel time when traveling through the area.
