After several months of intensive engagement efforts and conversations with the community, including input on potential code language and amendments, Aspen City Council adopted Ordinance No. 9, Series 2022, Short-Term Rental Regulations, on June 28, 2022, and Ordinances No. 13 and 14, Series 2022, regarding residential building, on June 30, 2022. 

Thank you to our community and stakeholders who participated in these projects and shared their ideas and experiences with the project team.

    The moratorium on the issuance of residential building permits ends on August 8, 2022.

    The moratorium on the issuance of short-term rental permits ends on September 30, 2022.

  • Share Would a cap or limit on the number of STR licenses be possible? Perhaps a limit of 250 in the town (I have no idea how many there currently are!) and then you can apply for one and be on the waiting list if someone else turns theirs in, allows it to expire, or fails to pay. on Facebook Share Would a cap or limit on the number of STR licenses be possible?     Thank you for your suggestion! You are welcome to submit your responses to our STR Questionnaire that is currently available on the STR project page, and/or submit your input to staff at AspenEngage@aspen.gov for inclusion in our reports to Aspen City Council.

    We are coordinating extensive public outreach to help provide recommendations to Council about a new ordinance(s) regarding vacation rental and residential building permits.
