After several months of intensive engagement efforts and conversations with the community, including input on potential code language and amendments, Aspen City Council adopted Ordinance No. 9, Series 2022, Short-Term Rental Regulations, on June 28, 2022, and Ordinances No. 13 and 14, Series 2022, regarding residential building, on June 30, 2022.
Thank you to our community and stakeholders who participated in these projects and shared their ideas and experiences with the project team.

Shaping Aspen's Built Environment has finished this stageOn December 8, 2021, Aspen City Council approved Ordinance No. 27, a moratorium on the acceptance of any new land use application seeking a development order or notice of approval; on the acceptance of certain building permit applications for all residential uses in all zone districts within Aspen city limits; and the issuance of new vacation rental permits (also known as “short-term rental” permits).
The moratorium for residential building is scheduled to extend until June 8, 2022; the pause on the issuance of vacation rental permits is scheduled to extend until September 30, 2022.
