PROJECT SUMMARY
With the seat of Aspen City government moving to the new City offices building, the City is looking at
creating what will be a more comprehensive civic green in the space now known as Galena Plaza. The
City is underway in an engagement and outreach process to investigate enhancements to the area.

The current site plan was approved through Ordinance #4 approving the new City offices project to
move forward. City Council directed staff to investigate ways to enhance the area and create a real
identity for a welcoming public space to the new city offices building. Site plan concepts are being
developed and refined through insights and feedback from neighbors and the general public.
Join the City of Aspen in one of many opportunities to provide input.

Key Goals:

  • Reconsider Galena Plaza as a key public space link between Aspen Mountain and the Roaring Fork River.
  • Identify outdoor elements that contribute to a well-connected public space representative of the adjacent civic uses.
  • Re-envision the current Galena Plaza design through community engagement.

Why does the study boundary include the intersection of E.Main Street and S. Galena, but NOT the crossing of Rio Grande Place and the entrance to the park and path to the river?

Questions asked about 1 year ago

The Galena Plaza study boundary does not include connections to Rio Grande Park, but does consider how future connections are coordinated with future planning at Rio Grande Park. E. Main Street and S. Galena are key intersections with the Galena Street shuttle stop noted in the site plan.
